NJ SENATE DEMOCRATS TO ATTACK SECOND AMENDMENT STARTING THURSDAY

Tell All Senators to OPPOSE!

June 17, 2025. New Jersey Democrats have resumed and are fast-tracking their ill-considered election-year attack on Second Amendment rights. After ramming a series of anti-gun bills through the Assembly earlier this year, they are now moving this attack to the State Senate, starting with a committee hearing this Thursday, June 19. Democrats are wasting no time and are rushing their gun ban blitz through the legislative process. Instead of answering for their failure to address issues that actually matter to the general public, Democrats are resorting to their tired old election-year trick of changing the subject and solving manufactured “problems” that aren’t really problems at all.

CLICK HERE TO CONTACT ALL NEW JERSEY SENATE MEMBERS. TELL THEM TO OPPOSE ALL NEW GUN BILLS BEING PROPOSED AT THE SENATE LAW AND PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE HEARING ON THURSDAY, JUNE 19. TELL THEM TO STOP ATTACKING SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS INSTEAD OF PUNISHING CRIMINALS, AND TELL THEM YOU WILL VOTE AGAINST ANY LAWMAKERS THIS NOVEMBER WHO ATTACK THE SECOND AMENDMENT.

The list of gun bills being voted on Thursday is expected to include:

S3894 creates a crime for possession of digital instructions to illegally manufacture firearms or firearm components. It creates a crime even if someone never actually produces a gun or component. Simply having a digital file for a component on your computer will result in a presumption that you intended to illegally manufacture, and it will turn innocent gun owners into criminals.

S3895 establishes the crime of reckless discharge. Discharging a firearm in New Jersey is already illegal unless done “for a lawful purpose,” which is an affirmative defense. This is nothing more than a swipe at concealed carry. Now, every time a firearm is used, even in legitimate self-defense situations, prosecutors will have more tools to harass law-abiding gun owners.

S3896 This bill is another attempt to criminalize lawful self defense with a firearm. Though cloaked in language focusing on criminal misconduct by bad actors, the operative portion of the bill is not limited to bad actors and allows prosecution for self defense where a firearm is discharged.

S3706 mandates the use of Merchant Category Codes. This is nothing more than government sanctioned snooping that can be used to create a firearms registry or discriminate against gun owners and lawful businesses.

S3900 is the “gun owner gulag” on steroids — it allows imprisonment before trial for an unlimited amount of time when someone is merely accused of a firearms offense. If someone is just ACCUSED of a gun crime, the government gets to lock them up and throw away the key while they await trial.

S1558 Makes it a first degree crime (up to 20 years in jail) to transport, ship, or even dispose of a firearm without a serial number. There is no exception for previously owned historical firearms that were lawfully manufactured and lawfully acquired without a serial number.

S3893 Machine guns are already prohibited under state and federal law. This legislation creates new crimes for possessing or selling a machine gun “conversion device,” which could mean previously-lawful devices that cause a semi-automatic firearm to cycle more rapidly (rather than changing the way the trigger functions from semi-automatic to fully automatic). It also opens the door to prosecution of vendors from other states who sell devices lawfully elsewhere, but which end up in New Jersey.
