Governor’s Internship Program (posted 7/21/10)

The Governor’s Intern Program is looking for bright, hardworking and enthusiastic people to intern at the State Capitol during fall 2010. Interns work in a fast-paced environment and enjoy many opportunities to learn more about politics, state government and the legislative process.

Each intern is assigned to a department within the Governor’s Office based on his or her interests and skills. Potential placements include Policy, Communications, Government Affairs, Executive Appointments and Constituent Services.

The application process is highly competitive. Applicants may be college juniors or seniors, recent graduates or graduate students. All majors are encouraged to apply and interns will receive an hourly stipend based upon their education level. The fall internship will start August 23rd and end December 17th. Interns are required to work 20 to 40 hours per week.

PAID Post-College Internship (WeTheCitizens) (posted 1/12/10)

WeTheCitizens, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is seeking post-college graduates looking to contribute their skills to a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities will include:
· Assisting the sales team in pursuing and closing new business
· Updating and managing the company's new media presence
· Blogging and Twittering about social media
· Helping roll out our new rebranding
· Manage and provide new media consulting to clients

Karen Handel Internship (posted 9/23/09)

Wanted: Energetic, hard-working interns seeking to gain political experience and knowledge through a campaign internship. Interns should be proficient in their use of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and have an overall “Bring It On” attitude when it comes to supporting Karen Handel in her efforts to be Georgia’s next great Governor!

Areas of Focus as an Intern:
· Political
· Communications
· Fundraising

Typical Intern Duties:
· Answer phones in a polite, organized manner
· Make phone calls concerning events
· Research information about elected officials/leaders
· Research issues and current events
· Organize/ help at events (hand out stickers and information, get volunteers)
· Set up mailings/ mail mergers!
· Run occasional errands (post office, office depot, etc.)
· Gather data (events, biographies, county profiles)
· Help with other necessary office tasks

Note: This is an unpaid internship. However, this experience will strengthen your resume immensely, while you gain political experience. Additionally, we can structure this internship so that you get college credit.
